I believe that being in a management role as a leader is a position of real privilege. In this role, you will ultimately have some power over the daily experience of your whole team, whether for the good or for the bad.
This daily experience that they have, will often sit solely with how you show up in your role and how you treat them. A leader cannot be a leader if no-one is following and whether people want to follow you will be down to their trust in your actions and integrity.
It is very useful therefore to define exactly what kind of manager/leader you would want to be and the experience that you would most wish for your team to have of you, how you will gain their trust and be able to work together to achieve your vision and that of your company while empowering your team to grow, develop and become the best that they can be.

It was so helpful to get new perspectives especially around some of my previous beliefs and attitudes and a revelation that these could be changed for the better.
I asked to be challenged and it was greatly suprising what came out when I was. It definitely built self-awareness and opened me up to see situations in a new light.
I am goal orientated at work so it was a positive for me to be held to account on the agreed goals - a real positive.
